After having done quite a few tests of this brand 361°, we have already said all the good we could possibly say about them. The 361° Spire 3 is painted with the same glorious brush: particularly concerning their quality materials and finishing: very surprising and superior to most brands in the market.
The precision of their collages, thermos-collages, assembly of the various quality materials, absence of stitching and the technical qualities of the entire shoe, make these Spire 3 a stunning product. The integrated stone guard goes unseen, the 3D designed heel, the tongue reflects this same relief, altogether beautiful. We loved them.
As soon as you put the Spire 3 on you notice the combination of precision and comfort. The toe box seems snug yet the mesh stretches laterally enabling enormous flexibility when bending your foot, or when your foot swells a little. Breathability is perfect in this area.
The rest of the foot is solidly held. These don’t behave like a competition shoe, more suitable to training. The clever positioning of the foam padding makes the shoe very comfortable. The heel of these shoes are treated the best in terms of comfort and design.
The laces need to be done up by tightening them from the toes upwards as they don’t slide easily, but once well-adjusted they do not give any pressure points, especially at the top of the tongue where the 3D effect creates a lovely soft cushion to protect from the lacing. We particularly liked the beautiful reinforcements around the eyelets: techno!
There’s not much cushioning at the front of the shoe, but it’s logical for this shoe’s design. We ran a lot on gravely paths, and we didn’t feel them under the shoes. The heel has more cushioning, well-balanced, not too soft or too reactive, Goldilocks would love them…!
If we found the foot strike good, we did notice a slight loss of precision laterally, the foam deforms a little. The 9mm drop means you don’t put too much pressure on your calves.
The grip is not very powerful under the forefoot. So these are more for non-technical, not muddy or slippery terrain…
These shoes don’t have enormous dynamism. The weight is average for this type of shoe.
The most surprising aspect of the Spire 3 is its superior manufacturing quality. They are great shoes for training on the road, track or triathlon. Comfortable, pleasant with just enough cushioning.
