Adidas Terrex Two Boa

This Adidas Terrex Two Boa is designed for trail running but its urban look means it isn’t out of place downtown. We loved the sleek lines and the daring white (except of course when you find your first muddy puddle…).

These Terrex have interesting technical details.

We also noticed the contrast between the quality of the sole (cushioning, grip and foot strike) and the upper, which is a little on the disappointing side.

These are quick to slip on, which make them an excellent model for the likes of Xterra triathlons: the ultimate in transition. Your foot slides in with ease, and a quick twist of the Boa system and you are set to go. They use the L6 model designed for trail running. The TX4 laces and Form TX guides are especially designed for dealing with wet and mud. As usual the Boa system is very easy to tighten to the millimeter – just loosening takes longer.

The pressure is evenly distributed across the top of the foot, the laces slide well in the fabric eyelets. The forefoot lacks a bit of foothold. These shoes are generally not very precise, they are particularly suited to wide feet. The toe box is spacious, so if your feet are quite narrow they will have too much space. Traversing slopes the foothold could be better.

These Terrex Two Boa are seamless, which is very pleasant as there is no rubbing. If your feet aren’t wide enough a fold appears in the forefoot mesh near the big toe, which then starts to rub after running for a while. Which also raises the question of this area wearing thin after a while.

The stone guard works well and is beautifully integrated into the mesh.

The heel stays firmly positioned at the base of the shoe and the lateral foam luxuriously envelops the ankles.

The asymmetric tongue goes quite high up and is designed in a thick foam that could rub the base of the tibia when flexed. So, very important to position the tongue carefully.

We loved the reassuring grip by Continental®. Not really designed for very deep mud, but damp and technical terrain.

Plenty of cushioning at the rear and fore of the shoe. The rebound at the front of the shoe is energetic. Lateral stability is good and precision standard for this type of shoe with standard breathability.

The Terrex Two Boa is made from non-dyed material (Terrex mesh) .

We found the Terrex Two Boa had a precision grip and good cushioning. We liked the tongue less. These shoes are designed for rolling terrain, not necessarily too technical, and the Boa system is really perfect for triathlons that demand fast transitions.
