The Atomic Backland 102 goes from carving to skidding naturally, very confidence building when you have to put these fat skis sideways.
On bumpy terrain it’s slightly less forgiving, the cushioning is a little less noticeable, but when accelerating the ski is confident and stable. Pivoting remains easy. Its lightness and progressive rocker enables it to lift above the snow.
When the tip goes into a large mass of snow it has a tendency to suddenly lift up al at once; the flexibility between the binding and the rocker is not progressive. So vigilance is needed in these sorts of conditions and you will be soliciting your physical fitness to keep the ski in check.
The general look of the ski is not that eye grabbing, but hey, it’s not that bad!
