Right from the very first runs with the Blizzard Quattro RS 70 our team were immediately won over by the qualities of these regal skis on the slopes. Let’s put aside their slightly “dated” look that doesn’t reflect the exceptionally high performance of these skis. For the rest – they are unmatched.
These are excellent top-of-the-range skis for sheer pleasure on groomed slopes (at 1000 euros a pair!)
The Blizzard Quattro RS 70 have the same efficiency of the Salomon Blast, whilst being lighter, and providing the same performance but easier to ski and less physically demanding.
The turn initiations are easily done without being technically a problem and they pivot with ease.
Despite the long edges the tips don’t trip you up, they have great lift. They have a screwed metal tips, and these screws aren’t very aesthetic.
The Blizzard Quattro RS 70 know how to flat pivot, and to cross turn in the event of an emergency. They never block your feet.
Once they are on the edge the skis accelerate – we loved their excellent glide on wet or cold snow. The Blizzard Quattro RS 70 ride medium and long turns. Their ability to launch into the turn is really pleasant and we really loved and managed the acceleration.
The turn variations are easy when you increase the radius but more difficult to reduce because of the acceleration that is always there.
On icy hard snow you need to add extra power to ensure the grip. But on standard hard snow they perform superbly. The Blizzard Quattro RS 70 have a reassuringly sound grip. We really appreciated that the tips are solidly grounded, no swaying about.
Bonus point: they send very little vibrations into the legs as the structure filters well.
The tail closes off the turns even if there is speed, if you lose rear balance the skis won’t necessarily over-turn you keep control of the turn and their reactions and you can react if there are any problems.
Front and rear balance are easy to obtain, likewise lateral angulation is also easy.
These are really pleasant skis, a product perfect for ski instructors on hard snow. These skis with 70mm underfoot are the reference for skiing on groomed slopes.
These skis are classy without losing the vintage feel and they have beautiful inserts in the middle of the skis.
The Blizzard Quattro RS 70 are high performant skis and yet accessible for skiing on groomed slopes and compact snow. Very well designed they propose top-of-the-range specifications, which is perfectly normal considering their price. Our testers gave these skis the prime Test4outside FIRST Award.
