We tested the Bollé Nevada goggles with the silvered Black Chrome lens designed for very bright conditions. This lens has an amber tint that isn’t unpleasant and very effective on the snow in the middle of the day.
We may have hesitated between the Northstar and Nevada goggles, but we suggest the latter. They are less expensive and just as performant. We can highlight a few differences.
The first concerns the Nevada’s ventilation, you can even feel thin streams of air on the inside of the goggles, a bit like the Julbo Cyrius. It may not be very pleasant but at least your lens is never fogged up. We skied with the Nevada all weather conditions, including a snow storm, and in the rain, just like the Northstar: zero humidity problems, even when we put the goggles on top of the helmet in the cabin lifts. There are 6 little holes on the outside of the lens probably for regulating the temperature and hydrometrics between the two lenses.
What was really great was the Bollé Nevada lens’ adaptability when luminosity is low, it worked well, even with low light you can handle the differences well between light-dark whilst always having good protection when in full sun.
The terrain is clear and focused, you can see the snow’s movements and ski freely. You must keep the lens clean because dried water droplets interfere with crystal vision (this isn’t the case with other types of lenses). We didn’t notice any interior reflections. You don’t notice the comfortable foam on the edge in the field of vison (Smith and Oakley have thicker foam, yet not necessarily more comfortable).
You really do forget you’re wearing these goggles, well-shaped they sit neatly under the helmet and are very comfortable on the bridge of the nose (which didn’t deteriorate in the three weeks of non-stop use). But do be careful, they are frameless and therefore sensitive to scratches because there’s no protective border: we did unfortunately manage to scratch them when carrying the skis.
Light, the Bollé Nevada stay in place on the helmet thanks to a nice strap.
Comfortable, these Bollé Navada are reasonably priced with quality vision for sunny sessions. They also react well in low light conditions and most importantly do not fog up. Very good goggles with a clean no-nonsense design. These win the Test4outside.com HOT DEAL Award.
