The Triglav is a 4 seasons leather, rigid, semi-automatic crampon compatible (in other words can be used with hybrid crampon systems) mountain boot. It is lightweight and extremely comfortable. A cozy fit for narrow feet. Adjust the tongue carefully before tightening the laces to avoid any discomfort.
The lacing system is precise and holds well thanks to the two braking eyelets at the top of the boot. The only problem we found was that the laces were too narrow and hurt your hands. There is a rubber piece all the way around the boot to protect against the rocks and it works very well. It is thermally very warm and perfect for snow and ice. Waterproof and breathable with a Dry-Line system, even if you do have the sensation of dampness in the toe-box especially when wearing gaiters, which makes snow accumulate over the toe-box. Spray the boots often with waterproofing protection.
The boots are stiff enough for using with crampons in a gulley and other similar situations, but they are not really suitable for ice climbing. The Vibram® sole grips superbly and has standard wear and tear. The shape at the front of the boot enables you to position your foot precisely in the rocks. The mid-sole envelops and holds the foot perfectly, particularly laterally. Overall a very good 4 seasons boot, lightweight, multi-functional for mountaineering, mountain trekking and very good value for money. Also available in a women’s model.
