The brand Chaussette de France, esteem that the Sierra is the lightest sock on the market, 19g, size 40/41. But do they work? We tested them trail running, in Autumn conditions on outings between 1-hour and 4-hours on dry, damp, mountainous and grassy terrain.
What we noticed the most was the way these socks married to the form of our feet and followed the slightest movements during a stride. You can feel this effect as soon as you slide them on. The fabric is soft and supple, comfortable and stretchy enough to sit over any discrepancies your feet may have. These socks also prevent any rubbing. They are made from a polyamide, cotton and elastane base.
If we scrutinize them, they have an elasticated zone around the ankle flex and another in the center of the foot keeping the socks in place despite changes in terrain. They are high enough to protect your ankles well without them being too high. The designers have introduced an upper that is a bit higher to relaly protect this area.
We also noticed (and appreciated) the flat stitching at the toes, so the toes are not irritated in any way. These socks dry very quickly thanks to the type of weave employed, and are therefore very breathable.
These Sierra socks, ‘Made in France’, are extremely lightweight, recommended for trail running in warm conditions. We loved the way they molded to the anatomy of our feet and subsequently you can forget all about them.
