Compressport TR3 Aéro Trisuit SS Kona

The TR3 Aéro Trisuit SS Kona doesn’t hide its similarities with another product already tested: https://www.test4outside.com/produit/compressport-tr3-aero-trisuit/.

The Kona has two differences. The first is obviously its look, largely inspired by the IronMan challenge and tribal tattoos. The short sleeves (you reduce getting sunburn) are also one of the distinctions of this racing trisuit.

The overall comfort is of a very high standard, you barely feel you’re wearing it. Tested in the Embrunman there were no rubbing point or irritation, either at the neckline or under the arms or between the legs. The mapping: use of different types of fabric in different body zones is especially performant. The trisuit follows all your movements like a second skin, even when swimming. The neckline is nice and open so doesn’t disturb the neoprene wetsuit and provoke rubbing. Skin contact is very soft. You feel slightly warm, more from the softness, and there is perfect stretch.

There is slight compression on the legs to help circulation and give a very comfortable hold without squeezing the life out of you! The zone above the knees is well-designed – none of that elasticated nightmare with elastomer preventing the legs to ride upwards: Compressport have a soft stretchy weave that does the job to perfection, everything stays in place with comfort over those many, many miles.

After the swim the trisuit dries in the blink of an eye. Biking in the summer it regulates your temperature well, quickly evacuates sweat and gives slight wind protection. If the weather is chillier you need a top as well.

Running the all-over black color is not the greatest in the heat, in full sun on the tarmac. Thankfully the weave helps manage the temperature. One good side to the dark color is that it hides any marks, which are very visible on lighter colored trisuits.

The TR3 Aéro Trisuit Kona has a lateral pocket on each side to be able to slide in a few gels. We didn’t use them, we found the positioning of them a bit deep.

This trisuit would be even higher level if it had changed the zip. The TR3 Aero Trisuit the zip wasn’t that comfortable, on the Kona and here we find the same system and under the chin it isn’t comfortable – could be softer- and most importantly the lanyard needs to be longer, we had one problem with the zip pulling it too far down, and when you force your arms in, the zip became blocked so we couldn’t pull it back up.  .

Last but not least, the chammy is very high quality, very thin but very protective: no pain after 130 miles riding. Which was pretty astonishing when you see how thin it is. There are small anti-slip pastels between your thighs to prevent slipping around on the saddle and they work brilliantly, yet wear down quite rapidly.

The TR3 Aéro Trisuit Kona is excellent ! Very technical, performant for thermal regulation, ultra-comfortable swimming. Just the zip that prevents this from winning the FIRST Award.
