The Compressport Waterproof 10/10 is super light for trail running and endurance sports. The fit is designed for 100% performance, comfortable and protective for runners looking for ultimate performance above all else.
The ultra-light weight of the Waterproof Compressport 10/10 jkt is pretty bluffing: 120g in size M. In other words, you never leave home without it!
This protective jacket has several peculiarities. The first concerns its very thin and very stretchy fabric. It molds to all the runner’s movements, like a second skin. It is very comfortable and the fabric to the touch is very pleasant. The Waterproof Compressport 10/10 is very body-hugging, even downright sticky on the forearms! Again, it is surprising at first, then you get used to it. The one problem is your big GPS watch, you keep wondering when the fabric will tear when you take off the jacket and the watch is underneath, if the buttons snag, but the jacket seems to hold out well.
If the jacket is very close fitting at the sleeves, it remains loose at the waist: it doesn’t interfere with any movements, but the air flow in this area is higher, probably deliberate. Unless it is designed to leave space to go over a waist belt, such as the Compressport Free Belt Pro?
The very closefitting hood provides maximum protection thanks to its oval shape that surrounds your face. In this set-up, you don’t feel the offset zip on the left hand side of the neck. This is another great feature, its central zip (the only one on this jacket), is positioned diagonally. It’s a common technical choice because it is sometimes used on ski jackets. The collar needs to be very well-designed so that the upper end of the zip does not rub against your neck (whereas usually the zip touches the chin, a less sensitive area). When you don’t wear the hood, you can actually feel the zip slider if the collar is closed. There is probably a manufacturing solution: use a thinner zip and/or a more flexible one. If the collar is open, there’s no problem, it’s comfortable.
As we have already said, once on the move you quickly forget about the fabric. In the rain, you have a water repellent jacket that holds up well in difficult conditions. If you had to choose, it seems more breathable than waterproof. Which is good as it’s cut for endurance sports. It is always difficult to have a clear opinion on waterproof material, even if the Schmerbers number (10,000 for the Waterproof 10/10) can give you an idea of its efficiency. After a while, you never know if the humidity inside the jacket is due to trapped body heat or from the rain: we remain therefore cautious on membrane tests and protective jackets.
Whatever the case though this Waterproof Compressport 10/10, for cutting out the wind, conserving calories, and keeping you protected against a shower, it is perfect.
Given its ultra-light weight, we think you could easily use it for biking, especially as it’s very close fitting and stretchy, there’s no flapping in the wind. You can also fit the thin hood under a helmet.
