Dynafit offers this Beast ski in two versions, 98 and 108mm underfoot. We tested the 98mm. 250g lighter than its “inspiration”, the Meteorite.
The Beast 98 is like a lightweight freeride ski for the adept at freerando: go in search of slopes and open spaces after skinning up and descents that are pleasurable with performance gear…
The Beast fulfills everything you are looking for. You can really feel the benefit of the lightness without it going to the extreme.
In deep snow, the progressive rocker with a flexible front encourages the ski to lift up and out easily.
You need some effort to initiate turns and to pivot. The flat and long tail favors speed and good trajectory stability.
On irregular snow, you can ski at a constant speed and there is sufficient cushioning.
The Beast is better on flat turns with an average radius, it’s not much of a player on piste and on hard snow, not gnarly enough.
The Dynafit has a great grip when carving. Pivoting and skidding turns are done with confidence and ease. Some may find these skis lack performance but most will be happy.
