Dynafit Sky Pro

These Dynafit Sky Pro will be launched in the spring of 2020. And they only cost €250!

You have a little DNA from the Dynafit Féline Uo Pro that we also tested.

The Dynafit Sky Pro are kitted out with a gaiter for those outings at altitude, in the snow and all terrain that need optimal protection. The rest of the Sky Pro is designed like a Nordic boot or rather a ski touring liner to stay in keeping with the Dynafit universe. They may not seem to have good foothold by looking at them but out on the terrain they sure do.

Designed for narrow feet the Dynafit Sky Pro have good foot envelopment around the ¾ of the front of the feet, and the heel needs you to play with adjusting the automatic lacing. Be careful not to adjust too tight or you may find you have a pressure point on your instep. Once you’ve found the correct adjustment, your feet don’t move. Attention, the Dynafit Sky Pro size small, we ran with almost two sizes bigger than our usual size.…

With such narrow shoes you have good foot placement precision, any steep sections require you to use the grip at the fore of the shoe, rocky, step in the snow are Dynafit’s favorite terrain. The supple structure moves with your foot in all its extreme flexion to create amazing proprioception capacity.

The grip is performant and sure thanks to the Vibram Lite Base® sole and the shape of the lugs that don’t collect mud. You feel confident in all circumstances and types of terrain met on the trails.

These are best used for short distances because there is barely any cushioning, neither fore or aft. Used on very stony terrain we can say that they vibrate. You have to run forefoot and with skill, lightly on your feet (heavier runners should leave them on the shelf).  They aren’t especially dynamic, energy spring is produced by the foot’s connection with the ground.

Beware, ” connection with the ground” doesn’t necessarily mean submit. Obviously, full speed in a stony descent you can’t feel the stones underfoot, which is reassuring and efficient. We liked the lateral torsion on cross-slopes and that also gives you confidence.

We didn’t much like the zipped gaiter that has a tendency to slide badly at the top, and also the very thick Dynafit logo reduces comfort. Contrary to what the brand announces, the gaiter is not very waterproof.

The stone guard is efficient, and doesn’t interfere with your foot strike and the shoe’s balance.

We tested size 44.5 which weighs 325g.

The Dynafit Sky Pro should be around on the Sky Running races where their quality grip and precision in foot placement should have a great success. Very little cushioning and a(very) expensive price tag, the Dynafit are not aimed at all trail runners who won’t make the most out of such a specialized product.
