This jacket is designed for warm conditions because it is very breathable. The Swedish brand with the fox emblem chose a non-waterproof fabric. The women’s Fjällraven Abisko Midsummer jacket is ideal for protection against a light wind, sun or when the temperature drops at a bivouac or at the top of a route. This is an atypical product, as is often the case with Fjällraven: you immediately recognize the style, design and materials.
Extremely comfortable this Fjällraven Abisko Midsummer jacket is made from two different fabrics. The first, G-1000 Air Stretch (65% polyester + 35% cotton) is on the hood, shoulders and upper arms. This fabric is water-repellent and more or less windproof.
The second (100% polyester) is flexible, stretchy and breathable. The jacket is supple and doesn’t restrict movements and also compresses down well. The jacket fits neatly in your bag without adding too much weight, only 335g for size M.
The jacket is soft with very well-finished and precise assemblies with beautifully executed seams. The panels are designed to respect body movement. As usual with Fjällraven, we love the details: how the large central zip closes, the mini-cords at the zip ends, the double-ended waist adjustment, hood adjustment, and the tough interior mesh pockets that stay in shape after months of use.
If the sleeve ends may be well-fitted, but you can still wear a large GPS watch (and read the watch face!). The wind doesn’t get through here.
There’s the traditional Norwegian flag and of course the inevitable little fox on the left sleeve.
We used the Fjällraven Abisko Midsummer jacket for months on end and it didn’t show any signs of weakness. Tough and stylish, it is equally suitable for hiking, horseback riding, cycling, golfing, snowshoeing or even going out in town. A beautiful, durable and well-designed product.
The jacket washes at 40 degrees without fabric softener.
