We tested this Helly Hansen Lifa Active Solen T-shirt with the Helly Hansen Lifa Active Solen Hoodie for four months.
This T-shirt belongs to the Solen range from the Norwegian manufacturer: this is a textile product that protects you from the sun’s rays. This product has 50+ UPF. As we pointed out for the Solen Hoodie test, we don’t remember getting sunburned under a T-shirt. There are undoubtedly people who are more sensitive than others or circumstances where this type of product is necessary: desert trekking, prolonged exposure to the sun. It goes without saying that the Helly Hansen Lifa Active Solen T-shirt does not protect parts which are not covered: neck, arms, etc.
We discovered a T-shirt that was well-cut, very comfortable, and not particularly thin (if we compare it to some T-shirts dedicated to trail running). It is very comfortable because you don’t feel the flat seams and the stretchy fabric follows your movements. While the fabric is able to stretch, it keeps its shape after many months of washes and use. You can see some minor signs of wear (classic) at the waist: repeated rubbing due to a backpack’s waistbelt. Like the Solen Hoodie, it isn’t very sensitive to getting snagged on bushes, nails or any sharpish object. It is perfectly cut, both snug fitting without being tacky.
Wash at 40°C, without fabric softener.
When being active the T-shirt wicks away sweat well and dries quickly. The development of odors is relatively well-managed but wash regularly.
In addition to offering a 50+UPF sun protection factor, the Helly Hansen Lifa Active Solen T-shirt is comfortable to wear, stretchy but not too much, durable and breathable. A sure bet.
