You could easily believe that the American brand Icelantic, from Colorado, would be capable of making “freestyle backcountry” look skis with fore and aft rockers. Bingo – they do! Their design really catches your eye.
Testing these beauties in powder, with this length and rocker, you have a marvelously efficient ski that is a child’s game to pivot.
On this lightweight model, reserved for less powerful physiques, if you put too much pressure in the turn it has a tendency to go under. You get overkill in the turn, so less aggressively, more sensitivity!
In rougher terrain it stays fluid, not tiring and comfortable. On piste, nice surprise; despite its width you feel a good bite at the waist. You can produce nice curves with good grip and also vary the radius without having to search ingenious ideas or contortions.
For more powerful physiques we think the same model needs the inside design to be a little stiffer. This product with more punch already exists in the range.
