Inov8 Trailroc G 280

The brand has become known for its effective cross-country products, with diect ground contact that you have to run with skill, preferable forefoot strike. The Inov8 TrailRoc G 280 has moved away from this particular DNA to explore longer distances, the ultra.

We discovered a very well-finished shoe with very comfortable cushioning, both under the forefoot and in the heel. The filtration is present, and well-proportioned so you don’t lose contact with the ground while at the same time looking after your joints during (inevitable) errors of foot placement over a long period of time. We really appreciated this very pleasant, efficient and fluid sole. Over all, this Inov8 TrailRoc G 280 are a very nice discovery, and that testers had a really hard time giving back, that’s a sign! There are, however, a few small details that could do with being changed that will be discussed a little later in this test.
Back to the sole… We have a dynamic shoe underfoot, which filters but also makes you want to spring. It’s a shoe that you forget you’re wearing.

The grip offers good performance with a well-balanced compromise between grip and speed on non-muddy terrain. In muddy parts, the Inov8 TrailRoc G 280 logically loses their grip.

In the descent, you can barely feel sharp stones (within a certain limit). On a slope, again, the performance of the Inov8 is good because they have good torsional rigidity. The drop is 8 millimeters.

Very good general comfort, the volumes are well thought out. This is the kind of shoe that you quickly adopt for long runs without being afraid of overheating or pressure points. There’s nice comfortable foam padding around the ankles. The heel area is cozy but lacks, in our opinion, a little “lateral hold” in order to wedge the heel in better. You lose a little precision. Your reflex is immediately to tighten the shoes even more, but, despite a very thick tongue, along with the very thin laces, you do end up feeling the pressure on the instep. So carefully choose the right size for your Innov8 TrailRoc G 280. Anyway, even if the flat lace is very aesthetic and light, we would have preferred a larger model to distribute the pressure. The laces tend to pull on the structure when going through the eyelets and stretches the material: a weak point in the long-term?

The construction of the Innov8 TrailRoc G 280 is neat, using noble materials and very well assembled.

We weighed the Innovov TrailRoc G 280 at 300 grams in size 42.5.

The Inov8 TrailRoc G 280 are very good shoes with great cushioning for medium to long distances. Well-conceived, comfortable, efficient, we will see it often on the trails. A pleasant surprise.
