Kästle is offering the same ski as last year; this brand changes its skis once every two years. These skis are heavy to carry – and here’s why; you get your money’s worth of material and you can feel the force of this weight underfoot. The MX 74 is a great ski for a great skier.
You need to be in good shape to tackle this ski because it demands it – but it’s the price to pay for using such a top class product. It really is an amazing variable ski, you can change the curve radius of the turns. You can make small mistakes without consequences. It’s not really flexible but whilst skiing you don’t really notice its rigidity and due to its fluidity you can be positioned fore or aft and it works. You can do anything you want, its high performance shines through (it has a wooden core!).
The edge takes well and the dive into the turn flows easily due to its rocker. Once the edge bites it holds well, carving is an excellent 8/10, almost top marks! It is undeniably one of the most interesting skis of this level. Be careful with sizing the ski in conjunction with your weight. We liked the clean typical Kästle quality design, minimalist and chic. Conclusion: an excellent ski for expert skiers looking for top of the range quality.
