Le Life + Sport Device is a small, neat and lightweight box (255 grams including the charger) and the instruction booklet is disconcertingly straightforward.
This little box enables you to improve your physical preparation and encourage recovery, (according to the manufacturer). It works thanks to photobiomodulation (PBM Therapy): benefits of light action on the body.
How does it work?
The explanation according to the manufacturer: the specific light rays depending on their color range, delivery mode (pulse or non-stop) and the flux force, will penetrate the various skin layers directly or indirectly and be able to reach the muscle cells.
By stimulating the muscle cells in resting mode, the cytochrome c-oxydase enzyme of the mitochondrie, the light will produce more Adenosine Tri-Phosphate, ATP, so more energy, but also activate anti-inflammatory recovery mechanisms. The Life + Sport Device emits calibrated and programmed light rays to stimulate natural cell regeneration processes. This LED light is painless, delivered between two and six minutes depending on the program used.
When should you use it?
Before physical effort for better initiation into action (4mins), after physical effort or between sessions to reduce fatigue induced by training (6mins) and also for better muscular relaxation. In the event of bangs or shocks it reduces the trauma (6mins).
What did we think of this box?
We very much liked its simplicity. No brain ache. You plug it in. You choose one of the 4 settings: preparation, recovery, maintenance, bangs and shocks. You press play and the device is programmed. A red light is diffused onto the muscle and the timer starts up automatically. The light flux diffusion automatically stops following the program chosen.
We found several positive points whilst using the Life + Sport Device: it’s gentle, practical, painless and easy. We tested the device during swimming and trail running training using the maintenance and recovery programs.
For maintenance, as a preventative measure, you need to do one session every 48 hours on the chosen area. For recovery you need to do one session on the chosen area within the first 4 hours after the physical exercise.
The strap delivered with the device enables you to fix the apparatus to the zone that you are treating. And despite what the manufacturer says, the device does heat up a little which is nevertheless pleasant. It is difficult to calculate the genuine benefits. If the results don’t seem spectacular the well-being produced from using it is real. It would be necessary to clinically analyze it to properly measure the recovery gain. Using it after long swimming sessions (+ than 3000m) showed that recovery was improved (but by how much?). We didn’t manage to test it for bangs or shocks.
