Movement Session 89

New 2019.

Often, as an experienced skier, you don’t need much time to feel how a ski behaves. Moving to join the chairlift or leaving the chairlift at the arrival is where confidence is installed or dissatisfaction is revealed.

The Session 89 has an appealing design, and we felt at ease immediately. Balance, reactivity and lightness are immediately present. Confirmation will come in the descents. The test took place on well-groomed pistes and off piste on softened powder, often already tracked. In all the different types of terrain the Session 89 showed itself as being “happy in motion”.

On the steep slopes and hard snow, the grip was performant and balance easy to maneuver. The turns were easily executed, the ski tips aren’t very perceptible but the advantage with that is that they don’t fly you off a curve and so you don’t need to use extra energy to fight your way back onto the fall line. They ski in a perfectly medium radius, safe, docile and pleasant to ride. You need a bit of technique and effort to change the radius, but the reliability of skiing in this manner means you have total trust in the skis.

The skis’ width is enough for most types of powder off piste.

Only in very deep powder does the medium width have a limited performance for floatability. As soon as you meet difficult, irregular terrain the lightness, camber and carbon fibers of this model make the ride less smooth.

The description given by the manufacturer is a good reflection of the reality. The construction of the ski, with a wooden core and carbon fibers, plus the absorbent area at the waist successfully provides comfortable flex and torsion.

To round up, these Movement Session 89 skis are targeted at all level of skiers who are looking for a model leaning towards ski touring and use on any types of terrain because these are good company to have around.
