There are many different ways of carrying water bottles on the market but most brands concentrate on hydration packs for trail running. Often hydration belts are uncomfortable and not practical when you want to take the bottle, and putting it back can quickly become a nightmare.
The Osprey Duro Solo Belt stands out from the crowd thanks to the quality of its finishing, materials used and the intelligence of its conception. It may be a fairly basic product, but it needs the utmost attention in design for you to forget you are wearing it.
Osprey have used a stretchy belt that doesn’t cut your breathing and gives enough stretch during movement. The buckle is easy to handle, even when wearing gloves. Its size is just right. It has a practical strap length for adjusting to your correct waist size and is well-designed to spread the pressure and give good support. We really liked the rear of the belt, which is well-ventilated and very comfortable.
The best feature on this Durao Solo Belt is the bottle which has just the right angle to avoid any impeachment of movement. You can grab it easily and put it back in the blink of an eye. The top of the pocket is semi-rigid and the rest is stretchy. Osprey haven’t forgotten a small stretchy strap to stop the bottle from leaping out when on the run. It is also easy to put in place even when wearing gloves. The bottle is shaped to slide more easily into the pocket and the plastic leaves no taste in the mouth.
There is a safety whistle even though it is not very fierce!
The entire Duro Solo Belt weighs 200g, and not 150g as specified by the brand.
We really liked the two pockets, which can both carry a large smartphone. One Velcro closing pocket is transparent and practically waterproof thanks to the plastic. The other zipped pocket is made from a stretchy mesh – good for car keys. We would’ve loved a completely 100% waterproof pocket for a phone or music system.
Very comfortable to wear, practical, well-finished, tough, elegant, this hydration belt is definitely recommended for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, trail running, triathlon, and more.
