The Simul Alpine pant is designed for winter activities in the mountains, out in the snow and rocks. An articulated fit with soft stretch shell fabric, they move with ease as you do. The trousers are well finished with attention to stitching and zips details and tough up against abrasions and tears. They are perfect for affronting bad weather conditions like rain or snow. Thanks to the combination of a waterproof and breathable membrane they dry very quickly which is very much appreciated in the mountains. We also tested them in cold conditions to test their thermal qualities, in the snow with a temperature of about 5°C and a strong wind which gave a wind-chill factor of about 0°C, and we did not suffer from the cold.
What’s more you can easily add long technical thermal underwear for improved qualities and wear them in even colder temperatures. There are 4 zipped pockets, one at the back, two lateral and one on the right leg, carefully positioned between the knee and a possible climbing harness. The straight cut is well adjusted at the base of the legs so you have a good view of your feet and you can also tighten the base with an elasticated draw cord. If you don’t have any gaiters there are two loops for attaching a cord in case you use it with crampons.
You have a system for adjusting the belt as well, which is practical but is not as good as a simple narrow belt. Super strong, supple and insulating with a slightly conservative look and really nice pant to wear. The price is a little high but well deserved for a high quality pant that is a good investment in the long-term.
