The Contact 9.8 mm is a rope you can use in many different climbing situations. We tested the 80 m version and our first impressions in the field were: a very fluid rope that is easy to handle. A middle of the diameter range so it is thin but not too thin and so you gain some weight whilst also safely use it in with all belay systems such as a self-blocking Grigri.
It’s a tough rope that resists wear and tear. No excessive fluffing after passing through belay systems and a fluidity and flexibility that lasts. It’s not the lightest of ropes at 60 g a metre and for 80 m the weight does make itself known. It is nevertheless still a rope that has a good compromise between weight, durability and handling, and a very reassuring rope. You feel safe, a perfect rope for taking out climbing groups for all types of climbing practices.
