Here is once again a Quechua product that is full of surprises. Its look, the materials and softness that is in the image of soft shell, its technical prowess and of course its unbeatable price.
This jacket is full of technical details, let’s start with the pockets, not only does it have two nice large deep zipped outside front pockets, but inside there are two fine mesh pockets and one zipped breast inner pocket. The zip tags are ergonomically designed to be able to grab easily and comfortably with or without gloves on. The zips slide easily and are all waterproof. All the stitching has inside waterproof taping.
The look and design are very feminine, and slipping on the jacket immediately the jacket feels soft to the touch, there’s no annoying crackling noise because of the waterproofness. The sleeves are long and protect your hands a little which is very pleasant when the weather is foul.
The hood has been well-thought out, with three points for tightening and adjusting the hood to fit correctly. You are well protected against wind and rain.
The only negative point with this jacket is that it isn’t warm. It is absolutely necessary to wear a polar fleece underneath because the material becomes cold to the touch and therefore transmits this cold to your body.
There was no leaking, it seems in the short term to be very waterproof. Ventilation is easily obtained using the two large zipped slits under the arms, which open up completely so air rushes in.
The jacket has a nice feminine cut, and is cut slightly lower at the rear to protect your bottom; always important in the rain, and there is an adjustable cord at the base of the jacket in case of wind. The material is stretchy giving good freedom of movements, very pleasant to wear.
Durability would need more time to test, but the material seems tough enough, the waterproof taping is perfectly adhered and the stitching and finishing are very carefully executed. The jacket comes in three colors and no pink! A jacket that is useful for everyday use and trekking and hiking.
We appreciated the lightness, impermeability and stretchiness of this Quechua MH500, just need warm layers underneath to stay cozy.
