These Polartec® NeoShell gloves are both protective and breathable. We tested them in cold conditions, 12°C (53°F). Straight away in the first descent we appreciated the protection against the wind with the Polartec® fabric. It is also slightly water repellent.
The feeling of warmth and comfort from the soft texture is very appreciated. Although it isn’t designed for very cold temperatures, the thicker polar fleece model is more suited to even colder conditions.
The Rapha Pro Team gloves have several advantages: soft flexibility, easy to put on and precision.
They are designed to fit snugly for better comfort on the handlebars and for gear changing, grabbing a gel and handling zips. The wrist however is a little roomier for comfort: to make them easier to put on, and be able to go over the top of large GPS style watches. They also rise up the arm enough to comfortably meet the jersey sleeves.
The palm of the hand has been covered in a special material for grip and protection from dirt. We would’ve liked the grip to have been a little more powerful. The design of the shape of the fingers is perfect. When you bend your fingers the material stretches with your movements, you almost forget you are wearing them.
The design and cut at the end of the fingers is fine for most manipulations. The end of the index and middle finger are covered with a special material enabling use on telephone touch screens. It works well for replying to a phone call but it is not precise enough for sending text messages.
The gloves dry out quickly and they are lightweight at 48g.
The color sits neatly in the Rapha range. This nice bright yellow is definitely a good safety color on the road.
Only one thing missing, a clip to join the two gloves together when not in use, so as not to lose one!
Extremely good gloves, soft, protective, lightweight, ideal for autumnal rides and chilly or windy rides.
