The Rossignol Allspeed Pro Heat are kitted out with a Therm-Ic heating system that is adjusted using the Therm-Ic application. You can use the Smartphone App easily or on the boot collar where you can increase or decrease the temperature directly.
They heat up at the front of the foot, not underfoot or at the heel. The battery life varies of course depending on the temperature chosen. Our experience showed that it’s best to have a temperature not too high yet constant. Another piece of advice, using the heating does not mean you mustn’t dry out your boot liners in the evening. The battery can last all day if it is really cold. The other question is also what the battery’s life span is.
The Therm-Ic system, used by most ski boot brands, has progressed regarding Bluetooth connection (at the beginning the connection used to cut frequently) and especially battery length.
Currently, heated boots are used by ski instructors or freeriders who go heliskiing for a week in freezing Canada. The other option that also works well are heated socks (by the same brand).
The Rossignol Allspeed Pro Heat weigh a lot. You must take into account the extra weight of the system. We skied several weeks with heated Salomon boots, these were much lighter (in the same size).
The Rossignol Allspeed Pro Heat have a 100mm last and are easy to put on. Two wide straps at the top of the liner make putting them on easier. The adjustment strap is very efficient.
The foothold is well within the standard fit of this type of boot and technicity. Our reaction when we saw these Rossignol Allspeed Pro Heat for the first time was this: at last heated boots for men! Now we hope to have a real technical boots with a 120 or 130 flex for ski instructors, or mountain pros and lovers of north facing walls in January.
