These Rossignol React R8 HP have the same dimensions as the Rossignol React 6 but you can’t compare them to the React R8 Ti (124-73-110 for 176cm for a 14-meter radius). In general though all these skis have very similar characteristics. Here the designers at Rossignol have focused on turn initiation, and produced skis that turn with ease. This work on the tips is combined with a natural aptitude to go onto the edges and carve.
The React R8 HP are an intermediary product between the Ti and the R6. They are a bit lighter than the top-of-the-range and more sensitive to lateral torsion. They grip less well on steep slopes with hard snow. But for most skiers, and most terrain, the grip is satisfactory. You can use angle without risking losing the grip.
Heavier skiers will bend the Rossignol React R8 HP out of shape and very quickly find the skis’ limitations. Just like the other models in the range the tail never traps you and you have fluidity throughout the turn. The tips vibrate a little and begin to twist on compact snow and cross-skiing slopes.
The Rossignol React R8 HP skid turns easily even if the skier makes an error in their fore/aft placement.
The major positive point carried through all the React range is their capacity to vary the radius of the turns. You can do this in any direction including carving. So without effort you can change from short brisk turns to long fluid turns: you don’t get trapped in one trajectory style. You can really enjoy the adaptability of these skis. Top-of-the-range skis that are easy to use.
In a straight line the Rossignol React R8 HP soar a little but not much. These skis are beautifully finished and glide well. We loved the beautiful metal tip ends, and the perceived quality is average for this level of skis.
The Rossignol React R8 HP are easy skis for riding on groomed slopes and to have a blast carving. Fun as you can vary your turns.
