We immediately notice the beauty of the transparent design of the Rossignol Soul 7 HD ski’s tip. You immediately want to take it for a spin. It’s really easy to pivot, turns on a dime. It’s playful from edge-to-edge, or flat on hard snow or in powder. Initiating turns is second nature to this beauty.
Its performance is reduced at greater speeds, and therefore you feel a little less confident. It has a tendency to get stuck in its radius and it’s difficult to lengthen.
It’s a lightweight ski and you immediately appreciate the lightness of the tip and tail. The narrower waist for an 180cm gives you the impression of a shorter ski. That said in deep snow the length improves stability and lift, even if we would’ve preferred more progression in the ski tip. The breakaway between a very lightweight tip and a more traditional and compact design is slightly noticeable. This is a little detrimental to its fluidity and the progressivity of its lift. Its behavior at high speed in powder could do with being a little more stable and safe. As the tail is so light it has a tendency to take off, especially if you’re off-balance slightly or your let the ski takeoff in front…
At top speed positioning must be precise and it forces you to stay in tight turns. It is a fun machine that is lightweight to maneuver in all snow conditions. It’s great for someone who wants an easy ski for turning. It’s better off-piste, and don’t take the size too short. Powerful riders will not be stretched enough by its performance.
