Roxa R3 w T.i I.R

These women’s boots have a sober look, with pale blue at the base of the shell for a touch of femininity.

We suspect that these Roxa have quite a sporty kick to them.

The shell is in three parts with the tongue covering the front of the boot and keeps the foot firmly in place. The collar is quite high and the foot pressure when riding must be solid. Even if we are used to this sort of envelope style shell, they slip on easily once you have pushed the tongue forward enough out of the way.

Closing the boot needs precision to respect the order of the flaps at the collar: you mustn’t trap the cables and large buckles in the base of the shell.

The adjustment system on the instep is assured by a system of cables linked to hooks. We liked the fact that if you tightened the cables hard on the instep the buckle locking is done without any effort.

Loosening the system of the shell and tongue is very well designed and only has three buckles.

Blocking the heel with the buckle in the middle at 45° is precise and irreproachable, with excellent foothold. The thermoforming of the “Intuition”  light and soft liner wasn’t tested.

The wide power strap attached to the hook on the collar, fulfills its role with precision and efficiency, in one simple maneuver the role traditionally covered by a hook at the top and a strap above it.

The tibia has a large surface area for its pressure. The calf has its pressure quite high up: a v-shape doesn’t reduce its firmness or its comfort.

The width at the toes is 99mm a little more than you would think due to their refined appearance.

But trying to fit wide feet into the boot would be difficult under the tongue.

This model delivers performance and precision necessary for freeriding in any circumstances.

Lateral rigidity is perfect for assuring safe riding in the turns and on hard snow and steep slopes. We could ski fast.

The forward flex with this type of shell is progressive, but the105 flex is firm. There is a 95 flex model that is more adapted to lighter weight skiers or someone looking for more flexibility.

The rear locking mechanism to go into walk position is simple. You pull the metal lever upwards using a small cord and the collar is freed easily. This system is perfect for freerando use in climbing the slopes and need quick release for walking.

To return to the ski position you exaggerate the flex towards to the front of the collar, lower the lever and let it move back to lock.

The insulating insole provides good heel position.

This model can be used with Low Tech insert ski touring bindings and alpine bindings that can receive the grip walk sole; this is good for walking and safety on difficult terrain whilst freerandoing.

Our testers were very happy with these boots, they provided adapted performance, are lightweight, with precision adjustability and an original design.
