This All Mountain ski is more suitable for piste skiing. But despite its narrow waist of 85mm it is relatively at ease off piste in conditions without deep snow. Idem in choppy snow and bumpy terrain. It can even be agile and light to handle.
On piste it is very easy to initiate turns thanks to its efficient rocker and the front of the ski.
Side slipping and skidding turns are accessible but as soon as you increase the speed the Constellation Gemma’s efficiency deteriorates.
The Salomon can produce short and wide turns but each time with a portion of it skidding. This ski is obviously not focused on performance or carving at high speed.
In the event that you lean back a little the ski does not correct the error and so you have to quickly reposition yourself.
We liked the cork insert at the bindings which is supposed to absorb vibrations and bangs. The Constellation Gemma is definitely as soft and pleasant to ride as ever.
This Salomon is designed for intermediate skiers who want an easy ski with limited performance, but that remains an all-terrain ski.
