Skied with the Salomon Icecool jacket, this pant was really appreciated for its enormous comfort.
The quite snug-fitting design was nice on the slopes, you usually quickly feel the limits of ample-cut freeride trousers. These have stretchy material, like the jacket, that gives with your movements without losing its shape. The fabric stays in shape even after washing them several times (cold machine wash). We really liked the length of the legs that for once aren’t designed for giant Nordic Vikings! (We received ‘regular’ length). So the trouser legs don’t drag on the ground or get stuck in the rear of your ski bindings.
But the insulation, unlike the Salomon Icecool jacket, is not Primaloft® but AdvancedSkin® Warm 60g and so you don’t need to wear thermal underwear. Skin contact is soft and gives super overall comfort and warmth.
We really liked the zip cursors that slide easily and have little cords with plastic ends making them easy to use with gloves on. Also they are aesthetically pleasing like the Salomon relief logo on the right thigh. We liked the non-waterproof inner thigh ventilation zips, and same for the flies.
Waistline adjustment is classic with a textile belt adjusted with Velcro and belt loops for a standard belt. The Salomon Icemania Pant stays in place even if you have a good-sized waist. The waist closes with a press stud and metal hook.
The Salomon Icemania are well-designed, warm and nicely cut piste-skiing trousers. Really comfortable and soft and a reasonable price considering the high quality.
