The Salomon S/Race 130 are excellent ultra-precision boots, not easy to get on but worth the bother. The strong point is their accuracy in their guidance and the meticulous foot envelopment that does not create any pressure points. It would be necessary to see the effects of use in the long term, as often products oriented racing are so highly precise they wear down faster.
The heel is well held and the area around the toes allows the feet to breathe a little. The width is 92mm across the toes, staying fairly loyal to a racing design.
Ankles are snug to the shell, so you would need to see if comfort remains stable and doesn’t cause any friction over time.
The Salomon S/Race 130 are very reactive lightweight boots, that you soon forget you’re wearing and allow energy economy.
The collar has a strap to ensure good support and doesn’t interfere with the feeling of freedom in the boot, you keep a latitudinal flex at the ankle. You have during the movement both precision and flex (limited) without needing to force onto the front of the boot. These Salomon are not inert and present a lovely cocktail of vitality and rigidity.
The 65mm tightening strap has two buckles to improve the flexibility even more. It is quite thin and not that easy to slip into the metal buckle, not the best part of these S/Race 130. (Will the strap fray with use?).
Over all they have a great design and excellent quality. You can perceive the carbon chassis that stiffens the boot and brings this high performance precision. Like most racing boots the sole is slippery.
The Salomon S/Race 130 is designed for expert skiers who want to go to a higher level of performance thanks to this very reactive carbon chassis. Superb!
