The Salomon Max 8 is perfect if you want to fine-tune your carving. It isn’t too stiff or snappy, which makes it’s easy to manage. Launching into turns is easy and coming out of them is smooth. The tail remains fluid. If you make any little mistakes it corrects them.
In short turns it vibrates a little underfoot, the grip could be improved. It is a bit stiff underfoot compared to the flex of the rest of the ski (fore and aft). The Salomon Max 8 is generally devised for carving, and it succeeds superbly, but it doesn’t make it a high performance ski. It would be a great teaching-tool for carving training.
On hard snow its bite could be more powerful. It’s sure-footed in a straight line. On steep slopes and hard snow it does have a tendency to slip. No specifications marked on the skis, not even the radius… A product for good intermediate skiers who don’t want to tire themselves out too much.
