Speedo have always been creative with their elite swimmers by putting original performance products onto the market.
How could Speedo be innovative with a product like a pull-boy? Almost all possible forms imaginable have been designed and manufactured, just take a look at the list (non-exhaustive) of the existing products: Finis Axis Buoy, TYR Float, Jaked Evo Pull Buoy, Aquafeel Pullboy, Aqua Sphere Pull Boy, TYR Training Pull Float, Aqua Sphere Ergo Buoy, Speedo Pull Kick, Arena Pull Kick, Aqua Sphere Pull/Push/Kick, Speedo Elite Pullboy, Kiefer, Bettertimes, Sporti, Nike… and for the French market the Nabaiji by Décathlon.
The Fastskin has a Batman aura with its black aspect and batwing style. There is no doubt that its form breathes fluidity and an aerodynamic sleekness in the water. Designed for competitive swimmers, the Fastskin sits easily between your legs. The bigger the thighs the better.
It does have a tendency to slip despite its matt texture. The classic pull boy foam is more suitable for gripping. You need to keep your thighs tightly clamped so it doesn’t slip: which is probably the aim of the product…
The volume of this pull boy seems less than a “traditional”, floatability is therefore less and so you need to work your arms harder, which is probably deliberate too for training needs.
The ergonomic form improves movement through the water. We switched it around and had the wider part near the knees, which made it easier to hold on to.
The bad news is its weight: 290g – when usually they weigh around 60g. For a swim/run this would be too heavy.
The Fastskin is unbeatable in terms of durability. A sleek product in tune with the rest of the Speedo range: kit designed for competition swimmers. At 28euros it brings another dimension to a training tool that you can find at 6euros.
