The Tingerlaat SPF 50 sunscreen is available in two sizes: 50ml and 20ml. We tested the smaller tube because it is light, slips easily into your pocket and is easy to grab on a chairlift or whilst hiking for example.
We liked this sunscreen in more ways than one. It is very easy to spread. It doesn’t sting your eyes either and doesn’t leave that white veil-like layer. The Tingerlaat isn’t greasy either so you don’t have to wash your hands after applying it. We tested it for many weeks out on the snow. The 50 SPF is a very high sunblock. To have correct protection in the mountains, you should apply it twice or three times a day. The reflection off the snow is extremely high and at altitude the air is thinner and the sun’s rays more powerful.
The shape and volume of the packaging was appreciated, but the small transparent cap is not screwed on (it is clipped). Therefore there is a risk it could come unclipped in your pocket or bag and splurge. On the other hand, the diffuser tip is very practical because it dispenses a line of cream that is ideal for spreading.
We won’t go into the details of the cream’s ingredients. All we can say is that Tingerlaat cream is a combination of four filters that protect the entire UV spectrum. The composition does not indicate anything organic used.
