These are the FIRST Award winning Zag H-96 little brother.
So the big question is should you buy the 96 or the 86? Our humble opinion is that the widest Zag does the same job on piste and is more performant off piste. Without hesitation we choose the 96 we prefer their grip and turn even if the 86 has a narrower waist.
We find the H-Patrol DNA in the Zag H-86 in other words the way they pivot so easily in difficult snow conditions. They are very absorbant and fun in mounds of snow. The front of the skis never get you stuck, and the lifted tips work well in complicated snow and especially off piste.
The Zag H-86 turns can be lengthened at will. On groomed slopes the Zag H-86 were less appreciated than the 96. Their radius is quite long, 17m. We thought that the quality if the turn was less good than the 96. The bite is less powerful, and in fact it should be better. You can do all the usual moves, stop sharply, skid turns, etc. They have a very cool pivot on piste.
Very good skis for teaching, especially at the end of the season when snow conditions are sloppy. The Zag H-86 are really light, with a beautiful design, especially the tips. The die cut is superb. A very good product but doesn’t win an award.
