Kästle TX 82

This Kästle TX 82 are backcountry skis, they are light enough to be exploited in the uphill without forcing and at the same time performant in the descent.

So they are really versatile and we were able to make the most of them in the spring snow.

The front rocket enables the skis to lift out quickly and float above the snow: the ski tips don’t dig into the snow despite if you are off balance; we were really impressed by this.

The tail puts up with having loaded pressure, especially if the skier is wearing a backpack, therefore even heavier.

The other quality to note with these Kästle TX 82 are their capacity to adapt to different types of snow. You can go from powder to compact snow and then choppy snow without batting an eyelid. You have the impression that the skis become part of you and your movements flow through the skis harmoniously.

We had 172cm size skis delivered, a little short for our male testers so our female testers put them through their paces. The turn initiations were natural and at constant speed the ski tips were lifted so they prevented the skis from digging in at any time.

Despite its qualities in the downhill the TX 82 cannot be considered as an All Mountain ski because you quickly meet the limits in this zone, they are definitely designed for back country. On compact snow they are stable and carving is not as good as an All Mountain ski.

These skis pivot with ease, especially entering into the turn.

We found the ski lightweight in the climb, which was surprising considering their skiabilty in the descents. The bindings delivered with the ski (the price indicated is for the skis without bindings) are also branded Kästle, kitted out with stop skis. These bindings are easy to engage.

These Kästle are designed for average skiers who enjoy back country skiing. They are good for progressing off piste without much brain ache and plenty of pleasure. 82mm waist seems a good width for grip and safety in traverses. Of course the main limit with 82mm is really just descents in deep powder.
