OMAN by UTMB!
The first edition of the OMAN by UTMB® was nevertheless a tough experience for pro athletes from all over the world. On the podium, Jason Schlarb confessed that he had never run such a difficult race. As well as there being 137km with 7800m of vertical climb, the terrain in this race would break any camel’s back. A land where stones and rocks are king and queen. Diego Pazos and Jason Schlarb finish together in 20-hours and 45-minutes. The Russian Aleksei Tolstenko and Lithuanian Gediminas Grinius, could do nothing to catch up to the winning pair. Anna-Marie Watson was 9th place overall proving the ever closing difference between men and women. The German Ildiko Wermescher was second and American Meredith Edwards third. The OMAN by UTMB®, for its first edition surprised many by its technicity, the need to have a mountaineer’s cold blood for sheer drops and roped up sections. This trail race deserves being called one of the toughest Ultras on the planet. Only for the brave. Not for the meek…
