What’s the real difference between this brand-new 361° Lynx and some of the oversized models from Hoka or ASICS? Honestly, not much—aside from the brand recognition that this Chinese company is still building. But in terms of pure performance, the 361° Lynx seriously delivers.
361° made a smart move by equipping this model with a Vibram outsole, which proves highly effective across all types of wet terrain—the grip is excellent, and the sole never gets clogged with mud.
Beyond its undeniable traction, what really stood out was the outsole’s ability to balance plush cushioning with lateral stability—two qualities that rarely go hand in hand. The Lynx absorbs downhill impacts and rough terrain extremely well, offering confidence even when footing gets sketchy. And yet, it maintains a precise, grounded feel. There’s no risk of twisting or rolling—this shoe is stable and lets you commit to your stride. Even better, the outsole isn’t dead underfoot—the rocker effect helps drive your stride forward smoothly.
Build quality is, as always with 361°, top-notch. The forefoot mesh is breathable, the toe box is flexible and comfortable, and the heel is well secured at the rear of the shoe.
The laces require a bit of attention—they tend to lose some tension during tightening, but once set, they hold. There’s also a convenient heel loop for easier entry.
We initially planned to award the Test4Outside First Award to the 361° Lynx. Unfortunately, the toe bumper lacks protection, which held it back from taking top honors—despite an otherwise impressive performance.
An excellent trail shoe for technical and wet terrain. Offers serious cushioning without compromising stability.
