Award First or not? The team hesitated for a long time…
The final verdict on the 361° Futura is very positive — only a slightly underwhelming toe bumper kept it from earning the top distinction.
This is a trail shoe that was widely appreciated during testing, especially for its comfort and long-distance performance.
First, there’s the outsole: it provides excellent stability and powerful grip, thanks to Vibram’s Megagrip compound. Add to that a well-calibrated heel cushioning—enough to absorb impact while still maintaining ground feel. The forward transition is smooth, making for an enjoyable ride.
The shoe feels fairly substantial underfoot, but it lands with precision. At 310 grams in size 42.5, its weight is within the expected range for this type of long-distance trail model.
Foot lockdown is secure, with no pressure points. Padding is effective, and the heel is well cradled.
Lacing is quick and reliable, holding tension perfectly. A small heel tab helps with easy on/off when needed.
That said, the toe bumper is a bit too soft for a shoe clearly built to tackle rough, technical terrain—a slight misstep.
As always with 361°, build quality is excellent, with clean finishes and high-grade materials.
The 361° Futura is a standout trail shoe with a grippy Vibram outsole, smooth ride, and all-day comfort—a great choice for ultra distances and long outings.
