We had the chance to thoroughly test these heated glove liners during alpine skiing (on and off-piste), cross-country skiing, ski touring, and even while shooting photos at early-season World Cup races.
These Therm-ic Thin Ultra Heat Liner S.E.T gloves come with a few caveats worth noting upfront.
They’re designed to be worn under another pair of gloves, adding extra warmth rather than replacing your main glove. That said, we also tested them on their own — particularly while handling camera gear, where maintaining fingertip dexterity was key. Worn solo, they naturally lose some of their heating effectiveness due to direct exposure to cold air. While you don’t necessarily feel a strong rush of heat from the batteries and the heating element surrounding each finger, the added comfort is definitely noticeable, helping you stay out longer in the cold. It’s a bit like heated socks: the best results often come from a low, consistent level of heat that prevents sweating rather than overwhelming warmth.
As liners, the Thin Ultra Heat Liner S.E.T are just that: thin, soft, and comfortable. But be cautious — sharp ski edges can easily damage the fabric. You do retain full dexterity with all ten fingers, which is a big plus. However, you’ll need roomy outer gloves or mittens to accommodate them, as they do add bulk. We found mittens work best, though for traditional gloves, sizing up is usually necessary.
Then comes the price. At €249.95, these liners cost as much as some full-on heated gloves from Therm-ic — such as the Lobster or Ski Light models, which offer more all-in-one solutions while still being slim and versatile. So, for some users, investing in a dedicated heated glove might make more sense.
As for the design, we found the battery and control button placement could be improved. The battery sits under the wrist, which can be uncomfortable — especially if you’re wearing a chunky GPS watch. The power switch would be more accessible on the top of the glove, rather than the underside — which, in fact, is how most other Therm-ic models are designed.
Our scale measured 285 grams for the pair, roughly equivalent to a pair of mittens.
You get three heat levels, with a claimed runtime of over 7 hours on low. That figure matched up well with our real-world use.
In summary, these multi-activity heated liners offer a noticeable boost in warmth and help extend your time outdoors in the coldest conditions. Whether worn under gloves or on their own, they’re a great addition to your winter setup — thin, effective, and versatile.
