KästleRX11

This is a narrow-waisted ski that demands precision and accurate edge angles. At 178 cm in length, it offers a bit more ease and forgiveness, in our opinion. We also tested it in the 165 cm version with a 12.7 m turn radius — in that size, the ski feels more exclusive and less fun on most groomed runs.

Back to the Kästle RX11: it’s designed for medium to long turns and offers some versatility, particularly when skiing with a flatter ski (which the shorter 165 cm version doesn’t allow as easily). The 178 cm RX11 better matches the type of turn radius skiers typically use on-piste. You’re not forced to stay on edge doing tight turns all the time. With the RX11, you can lengthen or shorten the turn around its ~20-meter radius — and it works very well.

The RX11 is fairly powerful, but still accessible. The tail doesn’t punish mistakes, and the flex is well-balanced, with no dead spots. Of course, you need to be centered and manage your edge angles well — but overall, this is a pleasure skithat delivers excellent edge grip. In committed carving, the ski responds without washing out.

It’s also very comfortable in direct lines — stable, calm, and tracks beautifully. It feels like a GS-inspired ski without the stiffness and demands of a full-on racing model.

The tail gives back energy at the end of the turn, bringing the ski to life. It provides lively yet fully controllable sensations. Overall, an excellent product.

A small downside: the screwed-on tip protector feels a bit out of place on such a premium build. But the top sheet is very durable and scratch-resistant.

So the question is: RX11 or RX12 GS? The technical gap between the two isn’t huge. The choice comes down to your skiing background and build. More advanced or former racers may prefer the RX12 GS. But unless you’re looking for a truly exclusive ski, the RX11 delivers nearly the same performance, with more ease and versatility.
