The Demetz Spit Track sunglasses are specifically designed for hiking and mountaineering. As is often the case with eyewear intended for high-altitude use, the Demetz Spit Track comes with a photochromic lens rated from category 2 to 4. This type of lens is ideal for adapting to changing light conditions and intense snow glare in the high mountains. Made of polycarbonate, it also features anti-fog and oleophobic coatings, ensuring clear visibility in a variety of conditions. It’s worth noting that category 4 lenses are not recommended at all for driving.
In terms of visual coverage, performance is solid thanks to standard lens dimensions. The wraparound frame fits the face very well. One of the major advantages of these sunglasses is the presence of removable side shields made of heat-bonded coated fabric, which provide effective protection. These shields can be removed to give the glasses a more casual look for everyday use.
The frame is also adjustable, allowing the sunglasses to be worn comfortably either over a hat or directly on the ears. You may feel some resistance when adjusting the temples, which could make you think they might break. However, they adapt perfectly to the desired shape and stay in place, demonstrating solid flexibility that ensures stable, secure fit. The temples are mostly covered in non-slip rubber, offering excellent grip. Weighing only 48 g, the Demetz Spit Track may seem slightly heavy on paper, but they remain comfortable throughout the day, whether in mountaineering or ski touring.
The Demetz Spit Track is available in four colors, including the navy/blue version we tested. A prescription-ready option is also offered, making these sunglasses even more versatile.
