Tested in the 185 cm length (sidecut: 131-101-123 mm, 18 m turn radius), the Dynastar M-Free 100 earned top honors from our test team for two compelling reasons: stellar high-end performance combined with remarkable accessibility despite its substantial dimensions.
While a 101 mm waist is no small footprint, the M-Free 100 minimizes lateral leverage, allowing you to find the edge with impressive ease. On firm or hardpack snow, laying the ski over into carved arcs requires minimal effort, smoothly carrying the rider into long-radius turns. Speed builds rapidly, yet the ski remains fully negotiable—you can compress the turn radius at will without ever feeling trapped by an overbearing tail. The flex tuning is simply outstanding.
Of course, freeride skiing means that 80% of the time is spent drifting, skidded transitions, and riding in an upright stance rather than locked on edge. This is where the M-Free 100 truly excels. Despite its length and surface area, it pivots effortlessly on a dime—lively and agile, with zero tip inertia or heaviness underfoot. It feels wonderfully alive, avoiding the dead, damp “tank-like” feel seen in heavily Titanal-laminated freeride skis. The forebody performance is exceptional:absorbing terrain irregularities while remaining reassuringly present when needed. It features a pronounced tip and tail rocker profile, which delivers that signature pivot-friendly ride—even if the generous tail rocker proves slightly annoying when fitting the skis into gondola racks.
The M-Free 100 dampens vibrations exceptionally well, keeping leg fatigue to a minimum. On the construction and aesthetic side, the asymmetrical top-sheet graphics are not only striking but practical: they allow you to easily distinguish left from right ski to rotate inside and outside edges, extending tuning longevity. A full-wrap steel edge around the tip ensures rock-solid durability, paired with a gorgeous base and a beautifully integrated metal tail protector. Our only minor critique concerns its glide performance on wet, warm spring snow.
Lively, lightweight underfoot, high-performing, and remarkably accessible. A meticulously crafted freeride ski that fully deserves our Test4outside First Award.
