UTMB®. Pau Capell : King of the Hill !
History will write in stone this incredible edition of the UTMB® where the Spaniard Pau Capell crashed the record to 20hours and 19mins, the record was previously held by Xavier Thévenard since 2015. He kept up a rocket rhythm throughout the 170km, galloping alone ahead. The Spaniard is not an unknown, winner of this year’s Ultra Trail World Tour, three ultras, and first in the TDS in 2016. This year he is the man to watch. Xavier Thévenard taking a gallant second place. Behind them was the New Zealander Scott Hawker who finished third. The women’s race was full of suspense. The Chinese Miao Yao (CCC winner in 2018) set-off like a rocket before stopping at the Grand Col Ferret. The American Courtney Dauwalter took charge, overrides her stomach troubles and finishes in regal style in Chamonix. The unexpected Swede Kristin Berglund glided into to second place in front of the Spaniard Maïté Maiora. The portfolio of the best images from the race …
