K2 Wayback 89

FIRST

The K2 Wayback 89 offers excellent ease of use; you feel comfortable on it right away, in all modes of skiing. Whether executing classic pivots, more or less flat, or engaging in more elaborate angles, it accepts everything. It responds immediately to any input. While there might not be a pronounced spatula effect, the K2 Wayback 89 performs very well on entries into skidded or slid turns.

Edge engagement is very good, and you feel excellent grip underfoot. The grip is superb. Depending on the angle you put on the ski, the grip doesn’t degrade at all with changes in slope, speed, or angle degree. It allows for high-speed skiing without any issues.

The K2 Wayback 89 stays true to its radius, revolving around its 19.3 meters. It’s easier to extend the radius than to reduce it. The faster you go, the more angle you take, the more security and comfort it provides. It’s as if the tail ensures better grip at the rear by offering a greater length of active edge.

In compact snow, it excels. On steep slopes, its moderate weight instills confidence; it doesn’t disappoint. The glide is very good, and wet snow clumps are handled comfortably with good filtering: you can ski fast while conserving energy.

This K2 Wayback 89 shouldn’t be sized down; it deserves to be skied longer. Its ease of pivoting and geometry allow it to support a longer length while maintaining excellent maneuverability. A skier with a powerful, technical style, seeking a ski with responsiveness, might find it a bit bland. However, it remains a very good everyday ski that satisfies the skier in all aspects of skiing.

It’s a user-friendly ski that doesn’t require close monitoring. Suitable for various types of terrain. On side slopes during ascents, its stability on the edge makes it an effective and secure tool: versatility at its finest. Awarded First Test4outside.com.
