We got to know the Swedish brand in a great way by testing their products: the protective jacket and pants, as well as a lined short for skiing and other outdoor activities. Here’s the review of the Primaloft insulated jacket, the Klättermusen Vale Hooded Jkt.
This technical jacket stays true to the brand: a mix of design, technicality (and details), and the use of recycled and recyclable materials.
We awarded this Klättermusen Vale Hooded Jkt a First Test4outside award. So, yes, its price is high, but the performance and durability are definitely there.
Well-made and thoughtfully designed, it provides welcome warmth under a protective jacket. Worn alone, the Klättermusen Vale Hooded Jkt is water-repellent, effectively repelling moisture, although it is not waterproof.
Made with Primaloft insulation, it is lightweight and hydrophobic.
We particularly appreciated its relatively close-fitting cut. When wearing a climbing harness, the area of technical gear is never hidden by folds of the jacket. The same goes for the cuffs, as you can always see what you’re doing, especially when handling ropes.
Other positives include the collar and hood. The collar features an asymmetrical zipper, so the zipper slider doesn’t touch your chin. The neck is well-protected. Once the hood is on, only part of your face remains exposed. The lined hood is thin and warm, making it ideal not to interfere (and to keep warm) under a helmet. It doesn’t block side vision.
The two chest pockets are deep and ideally positioned above the climbing harness or belt. The zips are designed to only fit your hand, located at the top of the pockets, so nothing can fall out by accident: perfect for multi-pitch climbing.
An excellent insulating jacket, truly made for action, designed to be worn with a climbing harness. Warm, well-cut, and with a neat design. First Test4outside award.
