We had the opportunity to test the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Shirt LS for several weeks, both while skiing on-piste and freeriding. We tested this base layer alongside the matching pants and socks.
We still have X-Bionic technical underwear from over 10 years ago: they are indestructible and almost impervious to wear. This new version, the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Shirt LS, lives up to its reputation, incorporating the proven features of previous X-Bionic models. After multiple washes, the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Shirt LS doesn’t change. It’s also resistant to snags from nails and doesn’t pill. Another major plus is that it doesn’t lose its shape.
Solid and durable, the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Shirt LS offers a compression that might seem a little intimidating at first. The shirt appears quite small. However, the fabric relaxes, and you get a reasonable compression that doesn’t feel restrictive. Movement is, in any case, unhindered.
You don’t feel any seams; the comfort is top-tier, whether around the neck, under the arms, or at the waist. The shirt’s mapping is well-thought-out, with a complex weave alternating between compression zones, flexible areas, and more ventilated sections.
In action, it’s a warm base layer, yet it pairs perfectly with a fleece or a technical shell over it.
Sweat is managed quite well, dissipating quickly if no impermeable layers are blocking it. The X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Shirt LS dries quickly. Odors are kept to a minimum.
We won’t comment on the presumed benefits of compression. Like in trail running, it’s very difficult, if not random, to quantify the recovery gains from it.
Another positive aspect is its bold look, which stands out. The X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Shirt LS can be worn on its own, proudly displaying its design. It’s a unisex product. X-Bionic claims that each piece is unique due to a hand-dyeing process. We’re not sure how that’s possible on a production line, but the craftsmanship is certainly meticulous.
