The Oakley Line Miner Pro L goggles come with two lenses to suit all weather conditions. In a bid for maximum efficiency, Oakley opted not for photochromic lenses, but rather a set of two interchangeable lenses.
While some brands like Smith use a magnetic attachment system, Oakley has added to the six magnets on the Line Miner Pro L, two mechanical locks to prevent the lens from accidentally detaching. The system is effective and fairly practical. Simply push a red button located at the base of the strap to detach the lens and replace it. Be careful when placing the new lens—avoid touching it with your fingers, and it’s recommended to use the fabric case to protect it.
The second lens, a magenta one, is particularly effective in bad weather, fog, or a whiteout. It is also protected by a case, just like the goggles. The whole set is stored in a beautiful semi-rigid protective case.
The optical quality of both lenses is unquestionable, and we really appreciated the clarity and lack of reflections. The sun protection of the tested lens (Prizm Snow Torch Iridium with a red coating) is excellent.
The comfort of the thick foam is spot on, and the strap adjusts easily. We did notice a few small squeaks from the frame when tightening the strap, but thankfully, once tightened, the noises disappear during use. We truly appreciated the overall comfort of these goggles, which provide nearly panoramic vision.
Under normal usage conditions, we did not notice any fogging.
An undeniably effective product, albeit at a high price. Award First Test4outside.
