Rudy Project Nyad

The Nyad model from Rudy Project can be equipped with three types of lenses: ImpactX photochromic lenses, Polar 3FX polarized lenses, and RP Optics lenses.
We tested the Polar 3FX polarized lenses.
The color of these lenses leans towards red, with a rosy tint. They are designed for use in mountain sports, sailing, and fishing.
The reddish-rosy lens is very pleasant. It manages to brighten the snow, even on slightly overcast days. This is a valuable advantage.
This lens is effective when the light changes, for example, when transitioning from spring sunshine to a cloudy or foggy area. In such cases, the lens reacts well.
It is true that it darkens vision, but it offers good protection. We believe its limit is in thick fog or whiteout conditions.
The sun protection is effective, even with significant glare.
We also noticed that it works well on bodies of water.

The frame, including the rings, the bridge, and the temples, is made from a robust and durable plastic. The Nyad from Rudy Project features a modern, sporty design. The “grip nose” system is directly integrated into the frame and, therefore, cannot be adjusted.

The slightly parabolic shape of the temples fits perfectly to the contours of the skull and ears. There is a small ventilation opening on the temples, located just ahead of the lateral protection. It ensures good airflow.
It’s true that during intense physical activity in hot weather, the ventilation may be insufficient. However, during moderate ascents, the opening in the temple proves to be adequate.
At the end of the temple, there is a small plastic pad. This prevents the temple from slipping. It holds quite well on the skin or a hat.

The Nyad model from Rudy Project is equipped with removable side shields. A tab system allows them to be inserted into the temples. They are easy to remove, even with thin gloves, and remain securely attached to the temples.

Thanks to their side protection, these sunglasses offer excellent coverage of the face, significantly reducing exposure to the sun and wind.

The sunglasses come with a soft case that also serves to clean the lenses.

Its weight is very light: 30g per pair.
