We ran in the Brooks Ghost 17 for several weeks during training sessions. It’s the kind of shoe you forget you’re wearing—versatile and comfortable.
The Brooks Ghost 17 offers less energy return compared to some other models in the same category. However, the forward roll feels natural and effortless in this shoe. One thing you notice right away is the minimal cushioning under the forefoot, while heel cushioning is significantly improved compared to the previous version, offering effective shock absorption. Lateral stability is also quite good, making the Ghost 17 a pleasant option even on light trails or non-technical paths.
Overall, the Brooks Ghost 17 lets you enjoy every run without overthinking your stride or foot placement.
Grip on wet surfaces is convincing.
Build quality is solid, with well-chosen and well-assembled materials.
Easy to slip on. Excellent lacing system.
Clearly, this isn’t a race-day shoe, but it’s a great option for progressing in your training and simply enjoying your runs.
