Atomic Bent 110

Magnificent Atomic Pro Model Bent Chetler 110 – with a really nice topsheet design and an equally beautiful base. A wide ski, clearly freeride-oriented, with a tail that rises at least 10 centimeters: it kicks up a proper spray. The tail is also shaped like a prow, similar to the tips you find on freeride or all-mountain skis (like the Maverick series). This kind of tail is designed for skiers who can ride fakie, ski switch, or land in that position. Definitely meant for advanced riders, in line with the definition of a pro model. That said, the ski is not overly exclusive.

The Atomic Bent 110 feels pretty light underfoot. From the very first turns on hardpack, you feel it’s there: no edge mistakes allowed. You need to stay on top of it, centered, even slightly forward to drive it into the turn—it’s wide underfoot and tends to load up on the shovel. The tail, by contrast, offers less edge length, so in carved turns (which isn’t really its main mission), you can lose a bit of support or confidence at the back. But if you manage the pressure, stay centered, it delivers very solid carved turns. It’s reassuring, you can push some angulation, even if it’s not a giant slalom ski—it still feels fun and secure.

In big fast turns, the front vibrates quite a bit and flaps, making a very distinctive sound. You lose some stability at the tip, but that’s expected: the ski is designed to absorb chopped-up snow at speed.

Off-piste, this wide yet relatively light ski with a very capable shovel floats with ease despite its size. There’s some rocker at both ends, though not an exaggerated amount.

Its glide performance is slightly behind other Atomic lines.

Short turns are logically skid-based on soft snow. On hardpack, it’s much trickier—you need good fore-aft balance. Carved short turns aren’t possible, as expected, and it sticks to its 18-meter radius.

This is a ski for long, fast lines. The Bent 110 doesn’t wash out; it’s solid underfoot, letting you charge steep terrain hard. For those who want to drop cliffs or ride powder with a super reliable platform, the Bent 110 comes highly recommended.

The big hassle? Trying to fit it into the lift racks.

From a pure freeride standpoint, you might expect a stronger tail. The ski is mounted quite centered, which makes the tail feel less assertive than on some skis, but also helps with pivoting and turn initiation. For heavier, aggressive skiers, you’ll need to manage rear support carefully. If you’re used to really leaning on the tail to finish turns, you might feel a bit left hanging.

No edge line on the shovel—so it gets chewed up quickly on impacts. Same story on the tail, with only a small elastomer insert. No edge line along the sides of the tails either.

It didn’t win an award mainly because it lacks a bit of fluidity in its flex. The subdued tail can be surprising for some skiers. It’s somewhere between a freeride and a backcountry ski. Still, a good, fun ski: well-finished and beautiful.
